Tripurantakam is a village and mandal in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, India. Tripurantakam is located at a distance of 40 km from its nearest towns Markapur & Vinukonda, 93 km from Ongole and around 150 km from Vijayawada. It is on Guntur - Srisailam route. A famous temple dedicated to Sri Tripurantakeswara Swamy is located here.The temple is on the top of a hill. It is considered to be the Eastern gateway to the famous Srisailam temple. Goddess Sri Bala Tripura Sundari is located down the hill, in the midst of a tank [ cheruvu]. Goddess Sri Bala Tripura Sundari deity & her temple complex here lies in the middle of water when the Tripurantakam tank is full or half full. A Srichakram is present here. here is a legend about the temple of Tripurantakam. Lord Shiva killed demons called Thripurasuras with the help of Goddess Sri Bala Tripura Sundari at this place. Here she is in the form of a little Girl. she helped Lord shiva in destruction of Tripuras and Tripurasuras. Shivaratri & Navaratri festivals are very famous here with people from the surrounding districts visiting this temple. As per Shiva Purana Shiva destroyed Tripurasuras(demons ruling three cities) here. Since he destroyed the three cities along with the demons he is called Tripuranthakeswara and this place is called Tripuranthakam. Smt.Pravathi sahita Tripurantakeswara swamy temple is on the top of the hill and there is a secret underground passage to srisailam from the temple premises. There are many places in these temples like Kadamba Vruksham, Siddi Gruha, Sri chakram, Aparajeswara Temple and there are near by few temples of Lord Siddi Ganapathi, Goddess Parvathi Temple made with stones etc., Kadamba Vruksham is very famous tree of which Lord TripuraSundari Devi likes alot. We can see this tree only in Kasi and then in this place. Srichakram- Earlier, Lord Tripurasundari Devi was in Ugra Roopam where devotees were afraid to darshan her.So, Sri Aadi Shankaracharya established Sri chakram to make her cool, so that all the devotees can visit this punyaskhetram and can fulfill their lives.

HOW TO REACH TRIPURANTHAKAM
By Rail: There is no railway station near to Tripuranthakam Mandal in less than 10 km. Markapur Road Rail Way Station (near to Markapur) are the Rail way stations reachable from near by towns. How ever Guntur Jn Rail Way Station is major railway station 124 KM near to Tripuranthakam

By Road: Markapur are the nearby by towns to Tripuranthakam having road connectivity toTripuranthakam.

By Bus : Tripuranthakam APSRTC Bus Station , Yerra Gonda Palem APSRTC Bus Station , Yerraguntapalem APSRTC Bus Station are the nearby by Bus Stations to Tripuranthakam .APSRTC runs Number of busses from major cities to here. Temple Timings
